Jungle Bunch Reversible Duvet and Pillow Case by Wendy Bentley

Hi Everyone,
Introducing Jungle Bunch, licensed by Timeless Treasures. This is a wonderful collection for a baby or young child. It is vibrant and fun and the fabrics are available to make your own fun quilt or cover. I just loved coming up with the fabric combinations to make this reversible duvet cover and pillowcase for my 7 year old, Chet.

For the pillow case I used the yellow multi stripe print in the center of one side and the brown multi stripe print on the other with the border print of elephants and playful monkeys hanging from vines on both ends.

The reversible feature gives variety on any given day.

The orange toss of animal fabric is the dominant feature on one side with some fun two-toned complimentary fabrics...the final border being the multi yellow stripe.

The large panel piece has the bold, playful Jungle Bunch icons with fun patterns in little settings in nature.

Here is a close up of the border for this side of the duvet. I really like the way the turquoise border with green alligators pop against the yellow and brown. Chet especially likes the brown.

I found a few two-toned fabrics that complimented the fabrics from Jungle Bunch. I also noticed that I had a chevron swatch called (Ziggy) from Timeless Treasures that was a great match with this collection. This would make a great accent pillow or backing to a baby quilt.

My hubby stood on a chair to hold it up, so I could take a picture. I am pleased with the final results. There is an opening at the bottom in the middle, so that the interior purchased at Ikea can be placed inside.

I like duvets because they are easily washable. I keep it fresh by changing out Chet and Chloe's bedspreads with new designs. This is a very happy collection. Look in your local quilt shop or on-line for Jungle Bunch!
Enjoy and share anything you might do with this group.

Kale & Napa Cabbage Asian Salad

Hi Friends,
I thought I would share a great salad that has been a hit at our house this summer. It is based on salad called "Napa Cabbage Chinese Salad," but we have made a few revisions. This is a salad that could serve around 8 people depending on the size of the bowl. For us, it makes a great dinner several times a week. We're still getting the kids used to this salad.

Here are the ingredients:

1 Bunch of Wrinkly Kale
1 Medium Head of Napa Cabbage
1/4 cup of stick butter, melted
1 package of Ramen noodles
1 package of sliced almond
1/4 cup sesame seeds

Dressing:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Boil ingredients for 1 minute in a sauce pan and then let cool. Shake well before pouring onto salad.

Clean and dry Kale and Napa Cabbage. Remove stems of Kale and tear Kale into small pieces. Remove white centers of Napa Cabbage leaves and tear the leafier part into pieces, mixing with Kale, set aside.

In a pan melt butter and add 1 package of Ramen noodles broken into little pieces. Sauté broken Ramen noodles and slivered almonds in pan with melted butter until brown on medium heat. Add sesame seeds after removing from heat and stir in. Portion out salad and crunchy mixture and add dressing after shaking it vigorously. This salad tastes good warm as well as cooled down. Save the rest of the ingredients for another day if you don't scarf it all down in one sitting!

Chloe's butterfly

I asked Chloe to draw me her best butterfly. Now doesn't this just make you HaPpY?

Which reminded me of the fun moments at the Cincinnati Butterfly Show with Chloe and Chet Bentley, Lillie Cooper and Myles Mayes. All the parents were there too, but the kids are so fun to take pictures of, so here are some cute ones.

Lilla Rogers Global Talent Search

Okay Friends,
How many times do you put yourself out there?...when you do, do you feel fear or exhilaration? Well today, with excitement, I entered the "Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search." Lilla Rogers Studio is an illustration agency that represents artists worldwide. In this day and age, we are a global community... it thrills me when I get an email asking if I have a Wendy Bentley Design catalog, so that they can have my manufactured products in their store in Australia or when someone calls me and wants my art in their new babies nursery all the way from England! With the right connections, this could happen, so wish me all luck!

Lang Products by Wendy Bentley

Hi Friends,
I am excited to announce my latest collection, Favorite Things for Lang. This collection is meant to make you smile. It is such a joy receiving comments from friends and fans; just knowing my art has touched someone's heart is so rewarding.

Today, I will be doing a live chat on facebook/thelangcompany at 2-3:00 CST, if you have any questions.

Along with the live chat is a short video of my studio chatting about my sun painting and my other collection, Elegance.

And there is more....

I am always interested to know what style speaks to my friends and family. The Elegance collection was created in a very different way from the paintings of Favorite Things. Elegance Collection is nature-inspired, filled with vintage etchings, patterns and sophisticated, collaged motifs with inspirational quotes.

Part of being an artist, for me, is mixing up artistic techniques which create such completely different results. I hope both are enjoyed!

Tea Party Clothing

I am thrilled to show the talented work of clothing designer Heather Bentley, Curious Georgia and Chrissi Richards, photographer extraordinaire. What does it take to get to this place where I can make a blog entry about this? Well, I thought it would be fun to explain the process....It starts with designing the fabric, that's my part, after going to vintage stores and doing much research, I designed a collection called Tea Party, soft gestural illustrations were made of tea pots, tea cups, roses and tasty little desserts. Timeless Treasures and I work together to get the collection just how we want it and then it is manufactured. Almost year later the fabric is delivered to specialty quilt stores and on-line quilt stores to be sold. From there, I asked Heather if she could design some cute little outfits with this fabric. The fabric is sent to her, where her designing and sewing magic happens in her creative studio, Curious Georgia. From there, the outfits were sent to Chrissi where she creates the mood and finds the right accessories to photograph her adorable models in these sweet Tea Party dresses. A collaboration of love and mutual respect. Whew! On to the next collection....

My most recent creation is a collage-painting of a tree that is 36"X36"canvas. The working title options so far...Loving Tree, Tree of Love...any ideas, anyone? If you would like this canvas for your home, email me and I can give a quote on a size and price.

Chloe's Spring Chicks

Hi Friends,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter week-end. I thought it would be fun to show off these amazing chicks Chloe drew. Together, we colored them in being somewhat inspired by the colors of Easter and egg decorating. Hello, Spring!

Winter impression by Chet Bentley

Yes, I know it is technically Spring, but today, it snowed again. One of the beautiful things in nature, is seeing a vibrant, red cardinal sitting on a bare branch against falling snowflakes; Chet captured this perfectly.

Feline Fantasies Kitty Cushion

It's here! It has been made, Feline Fantasies Kitty Cushion. This cushion was made with a foam interior with an oval cut-out in the top foam layer so Tangee has a cozy cove to get comfy in. The zipper is handy, for washability and I love incorporating all the fabrics from this collection along with a ditzy, filigree print to cover the piping from my fabric stash. Tangee's tail was wagging when I put him in his new bed, so lets hope he likes it...we'll see.

Feline Fantasies by Wendy Bentley

Introducing, Feline Fantasies licensed to Timeless Treasures. I thought it would be fun to show the process in the development of this collection. I started off by painting a Tabby cat inspired by our family pet, Tangee. The sketching process was fun and thinking about what they dreamed of. After getting a "go-ahead" from Timeless Treasures, I painted each cat and the little icons for each one. Creating accent fabrics, multi-colored mice and paw prints were developed to compliment the star toss print. The foam covered cushion with all of these fabrics have not been sewn yet, but I will post it when it is done. Any cat lovers out there? WOuld love to see what you do!
